Everyone can find happiness somewhere on the island. Lanzarote has unique landscapes and is a destination that’s suitable to all tastes: for nature, art, culture and gastronomy lovers… It’s also a peaceful and ideal destination for families, couples, groups of friends, lone travelers, young people and elderly people…

The climate is very mild all year long, with an average temperature of 20º Celsius and no more than 180mm of rain, which makes it suitable for all types of activities and visits during any season of the year.

Lanzarote can be covered easily by car, since it’s a small island and the distances are short. It’s the fourth largest island in surface area (807 km2) and is roughly 60 km long and 20 km wide.

Almost everyone has a car on the island since public transport is only efficient between the capital city of Arrecife and the tourist centers and larger towns. Even so, there isn’t usually much traffic on the island nor traffic jams.

The road network is in excellent condition and well-marked. A noteworthy fact is that there are only traffic lights in Arrecife and on some stretches where people tend to speed. These lights only turn red if the speed limit is exceeded.

Regarding radars, the only fixed ones are on the LZ 2 motorway between Playa Honda and Arrecife in both directions but watch out! There are several mobile radars that constantly change their location and can even be operational in urban areas.

Renting a car is quite cheap in comparison with mainland Spain and other countries even though the price varies according to the number of days, whether it’s high or low season, the category, the rental car company and the insurance taken out. A good option is to book it on the internet in advance and pick it up at the airport, or if you prefer, you can have it made available with your accommodation. Other advantages that the island offers are the short distances and the reduced price of fuel.

Even though you can go around the island in a day, it’s worth taking your time and doing it over a period of several days. In order to get the most out of your stay, we recommend that you do at least one guided tour, and nothing beats doing it in your own car!

We want you to feel the island and believe that its features need to be interpreted. We want nothing more than for you to discover it accompanied by a local expert, through experienced eyes, that will take you beyond so that you can observe and understand…

We suggest our guided tours by car. Can you imagine touring the island leisurely in your own vehicle and joined by an official guide and local expert? We have several routes around the whole island tailored for you, with great stops so that you can take wonderful photos and discover the prettiest places on the island. On top of that we have interesting discounts and keep in mind families traveling with kids.

How does it work? The guide will lead in their own vehicle and you’ll visit several places as the guide tells you lots of interesting things and stories; they’ll also explain and answer any questions and doubts you may have about the landscape, the crop fields, the local culture and traditions, César Manrique, the volcanoes or whatever you can think of.

You may leave your accommodation all day long, have meals en route at a small typical restaurant on the coast or inland, or, if you prefer you can have a picnic at the beach or inside of a volcano.
